The grapes appear at the end of the vine each season before harvest. Whether as whole fruit, jam or wine, they are the realized hope of the farmer. This is exactly what the vines were supposed to do, why they were planted. It would sem odd to have any other result in mind.
The grapes appear in one of our stained glass windows as a symbol and reminder that our lives, lived in connection to God through Jesus Christ the “True Vine,” are to be bearing the fruits of our faith. This is why the seed of faith was planted in us, and it would be odd to have any other result in mind.
A life lived without the noticeable fruit of the love of God popping out around us is indeed odd, for this love of God is able to transform even death to life. As people of God, we are challenged to bear the fruit of love and peace in our vocations, displaying indeed that the love of God is running through our lives nourishing us as we share the love of God with others. Let us do so generously, joyfully, and lovingly as a natural part of what our lives as Christians people can be. With all of the love that God has given you, what fruits will you bear?
