Spark is a Sunday morning faith formation program for children Age 2 through Grade 6. Written by dozens of contributing ELCA pastors and Christian educators, and published by Augsburg Fortress, Spark is a way for children to explore the Bible and their faith through creative art projects, music, games, and even cooking, video, and drama.
We offer the Spark Children’s Ministry at St. Paul each and every week in two parts. During worship, concurrent with the lessons and sermon, children under the age of five will be invited to join Spark volunteers to hear God’s Word from the colorful Spark Story Bible and engage in a simple activity based on the theme for the week, such as creation. After worship, elementary-aged children will be invited to participate, including reading scripture from the Spark Bible; a lengthier activity involving art, video, music, or games; and, of course, prayer.
We return to the same Biblical passages over the course of several weeks, so that every child will have several opportunities to hear each story. Children who are able to attend the program regularly will engage the same story in a different way each time, learning the story through multiple (and fun!) perspectives.
No need to sign up or call ahead, just drop in at St. Paul any Sunday morning at 10:00am!
